Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state :-
(a) whether Government has received any complaints of noise pollution from the people living near the airports across the country in the last three years;
(b) if so, the details of present noise levels and permissible noise levels during the day and night time; and
(c) the steps being taken by Government to keep the noise levels within the permissible limit?

(a), (b) & (c): Yes, Sir. There have been complaints regarding noise pollution around IGI Airport. Regulations regarding permissible noise levels in the vicinity of airports is to be developed after noise study by the Centeral Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which is a regulatory body in this regard. However, the following measures have been taken to mitigate noise around airports:
1. Night operation of noisy Chapter 2 aircrafts at IGI airport has been banned.
2. Restrictions on ground use of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units.
3. Adoption of mixed mode operation for noise distribution at IGI airport.
4. Continuous noise monitoring in the vicinity of IGI airport.
