(a) whether there is acute shortage for coal in the country; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government has fixed any target for 2011-12 for coal production; and (d) the details of achievement of target till date?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COAL ( SHRI PRATIK PRAKASHBAPU PATIL ) (a)&(b): As per Annual Plan 2011-12 of Ministry of Coal there is a gap of 137.03 million tonnes between the All India Coal Demand & domestic availability. (c ): As per Annual Plan 2011-12 of Ministry of Coal the coal production target for 2011-12 has been fixed at 554 million tonnes. (d): As against prorata target of 445.511 million tonnes for January 2012, actual achievement is 413.914 million tonnes.
